Sham Shui Po MTR Exits - Which Exit for Which Market
If you are stepping off the Tsuen Wan Line at Sham Shui Po station and asking one question — which exit do I use for the market, mall or landmark I came for? — this page is the single answer. It replaces the short exit notes that used to appear elsewhere on this site, several of which named a different exit for the same place.
Sham Shui Po station has eight exits: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, D1 and D2. MTR publishes a destination and a walking time for some of them, and those published pairs are what the table below lists. A single exit usually serves several places at once, so read it as “if you are going to X, get out at Y”.
The one-minute answer
- Apliu Street Flea Market and Yu Chau Street (Bead Street) — Exit A2 or C2.
- Most of the deep-market walking targets cluster on A2, B2 and D2.
- Everything else here is detail; if you remember one line, remember A2/C2 for Apliu Street.
Sham Shui Po station exits at a glance
| Exit | What MTR lists it for | MTR's walking time |
|---|---|---|
| A1 | Lung Hing Tong; Good Bad Creative (secondhand vintage) | 9 min; 4 min |
| A2 | Apliu Street Flea Market; Yu Chau Street (Bead Street); Nam Cheong Pawn Shop; Oi Man Sang; Flying Eagle | A2 or C2; 3 min; 8 min; 7 min |
| B1 | — no destination published by MTR | — |
| B2 | Kung Wo Beancurd Factory; Central Restaurant; Ex-Sham Shui Po Service Reservoir | 1 min; 7 min (or Shek Kip Mei Exit A, 5 min); 6 min |
| C1 | — no destination published by MTR | — |
| C2 | Apliu Street Flea Market; Yu Chau Street (Bead Street) | A2 or C2 |
| D1 | — no destination published by MTR | — |
| D2 | Garden Hill; Heritage of Mei Ho House; Fuk Wing Street (Toy Street); Lau Sum Kee Noodle | 13 min; 8 min; 7 min; 2 min |
Exits are published by MTR for these destinations, and a single exit commonly serves several places. The three exits with no destination listed — B1, C1 and D1 — are real exits, but MTR does not publish a landmark for them at the time of writing.
Which exit for Apliu Street (the answer the internet keeps getting wrong)
MTR's own station guide puts Apliu Street Flea Market at Exit A2/C2. That is the answer to the most-asked version of this question, and it is worth stating plainly because this site itself used to disagree with itself: an earlier version of our “how to get to” page said exit D1, and our markets page said exit D2. Both are wrong, and both are corrected as this page goes live. If you have read either of those lines before, use A2 or C2.
Electronics: Apliu Street vs the Golden malls
Apliu Street is the MTR-listed electronics market, and it sits at Exit A2/C2. The Golden Computer Arcade and Golden Computer Centre are the other half of the electronics question. MTR's own guide lists Apliu Street as A2/C2 and the Golden malls are a short walk from the station — but MTR does not publish an exit for them, so this page does not print an exit letter for the Golden malls. See our Golden Computer Center guide for the buildings themselves.
Markets: Pei Ho Street, fabric and toys
The wet market on Pei Ho Street and the fabric shops around Tung Chau Street are within walking distance of the station, but MTR's published exit list is built around the destinations in the table above rather than around the wet market. Use A2/C2 (Apliu Street and Bead Street) and D2 (Fuk Wing Street, Toy Street) as your two anchors for this shopping cluster, and see our Sham Shui Po markets guide for the market's own address and trading hours.
Heritage and the hill: B2 and D2
Two short walks cover most of the district's heritage stops. From Exit B2, the Ex-Sham Shui Po Service Reservoir — a Grade 1 historic structure — is a 6-minute walk, and the Kung Wo Beancurd Factory is a 1-minute walk. From Exit D2, the Heritage of Mei Ho House is an 8-minute walk, Fuk Wing Street (Toy Street) is 7 minutes, and Garden Hill is a 13-minute walk up for the district's best sunset view. Two quieter stops sit off Exit A1: Lung Hing Tong (9 minutes) and the secondhand shop Good Bad Creative (4 minutes).
Arriving and leaving
Sham Shui Po station is on the Tsuen Wan Line. Platform 1 runs towards Tsuen Wan and platform 2 towards Central. Trains are frequent through the day:
| Service period | Trains roughly every |
|---|---|
| Weekday morning peak | 2.1 min |
| Weekday evening peak | 2.1 min |
| Weekday off-peak | 3.5–5 min |
| Saturday | 2.2–4.2 min |
| Sunday and public holidays | 3.1–5 min |
For first and last trains, check MTR's own service-hours search at mtr.com.hk — we do not print train times here because they change by day.
What we could not verify
Two things are deliberately missing from this page. The first is an exit for Dragon Centre. MTR's own station guide does not map Dragon Centre at all, and the sources that do disagree with each other — third-party listings say C1, and older pages on this site said B2 in one place and C2 in another. Until an official source settles it, we print no Dragon Centre exit rather than a guess. The second is a street-by-street mapping of every exit (which of A1, B1 and D1 leads to which road). That mapping circulates on aggregator sites but is not published as readable text by MTR, so we have left it out.
Every exit and walking-time figure on this page is taken from MTR's own Sham Shui Po station guide, published with the Hong Kong Tourism Board, and the eight exit labels come from MTR's official station layout for Sham Shui Po.
